Senator Tom Cotton (R-AR) appeared on Fox News’ ‘The Ingraham Angle’ and has called for Dr. Anthony Fauci, Director of the National Institute of Allergies and Infectious Diseases to be held accountable and fired for one of the greatest scandals in US History. Cotton has publicly demanded that Fauci be “investigated and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law” for lying to Congress and the American people about the NIAID and NIH’s illegal funding role in the gain-of-function research being conducted at the Wuhan Institute of Virology which could very well have contributed to or even caused the release of COVID19 from the Chinese laboratory.
Senator Cotton told Laura Ingraham,
“I’ve said for months that Tony Fauci should be fired, now it’s clear he lied to Congress. He should be investigated and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. For 18 months, he has been saddling up his moral high horse and clucking his tongue at college kids who want to go celebrate a football game in an outdoor stadium on a nice fall day, parents who don’t want their kindergarteners to wear masks their entire lives, telling you you have to wear three masks when all along, he’s been lying not just to Congress but to the American people about his role in funding very reckless research at a Chinese Communist lab that unleashed this pandemic on the world. It is a disgrace and it’s time for Tony Fauci to be held accountable.”
I’m looking forward to Tony Fauci’s next appearance in front of the United States Senate.
His following trip should be to the federal courthouse down the street.

Senator Cotton has been beating the drum for Fauci’s resignation or firing for months, in June in a statement to The National Review he wrote, “we need transparency on the “gain-of-function” research conducted at the WIV. Sadly, some of this information must come from the U.S. government. It’s a matter of public record that the National Institutes of Health-funded research at the WIV, which Dr. Anthony Fauci disputed until very recently.”
The Greatest Scandals Of The 21st Century: Dr. Fauci And The Wuhan Institute
Sen. Cotton’s calls have been renewed and shared by many Republicans in the wake of devastating emails between Dr. Fauci and Dr. Peter Daszak, the president of the EcoHealth Alliance, the firm which we now know acted as the middle-man between the NIH and the Wuhan Institute of Virology. Daszak had the nerve to thank Fauci for running interference for them in the press.
“As the Pl (Principle Investigator/Program Director) of the ROl (Research Project Grant (R01)) grant publicly targeted by Fox News reporters at the Presidential press briefing last night, I just wanted to say a personal thank you on behalf of our staff and collaborators, for publicly standing up and stating that the scientific evidence supports a natural origin for COVID-19 from a bat-to-human spillover, not a lab release from the Wuhan Institute of Virology.”
It was later revealed by Fox News that six hundred thousand dollars from NIAID was given to a group called EcoHealth Alliance, which, in turn, paid the WIV to study the risk of bat coronaviruses infecting humans.
“On Tuesday, the NIAID director defended the “modest” collaboration between the Wuhan Institute of Virology (WIV) and NIAID to study bat-transmitted coronaviruses but denied the money went to gain-of-function research.”
“I would have been almost a dereliction of our duty if we didn’t study this, and the only way you can study these things is you’ve got to go where the action is,” Fauci said, referencing the early-2000s SARS outbreak, which is presumed to have come from bats.”
The admission directly contradicted the contentious, even hostile testimony Dr. Fauci gave to Senator Rand Paul, showing Fauci’s repeated insistence that the NIH and NIAID didn’t fund the research to be a complete lie. Senator Cotton is completely right: this man belongs behind bars.
