Hate Crime Committed Against Republican, Caught on Cam

by Laura Steinberg

A hate crime was committed against a prominent Republican gubernatorial candidate in California, and he is now speaking out about it.

Larry Elder, who is running in the recall election against California Governor Gavin Newsom, was attacked while walking in Los Angeles on September 8th.

While touring the Venice neighborhood with members of his campaign team, leftists began throwing eggs at Elder. One of the attackers was a woman wearing a gorilla mask.

If Elder, who is black, was a Democrat, this would be widely reported by every mainstream media outlet as a hate crime, but because he is a Republican, the story was virtually ignored.

Videos of the attack show that the first egg thrown did not hit its target. A member of Elder’s campaign team can be heard saying “We’re getting egged from behind,” as he puts his arm on the candidate’s back.

A second egg was then thrown in Elder’s direction, though it is unclear if Elder was ever hit by any of the projectiles. Several of the leftists became physically aggressive towards the candidate’s campaign team, including the racist in the gorilla mask, who appeared to slap a staffer across the face. Another leftist can be heard calling Elder a “piece of sh*t” as the candidate was being escorted into his vehicle.

Elder spoke out about the attack on Fox News with Jesse Watters.

“So you see the white lady in the gorilla mask, throwing eggs. What exactly happened there, Larry?” Watters asked.

“Well, she might be one of the 20,000 people that were released early from our prisons, felons, many of whom were violent offenders under this governor; I don’t know,” Elder responded. “We have too-soft-on-crimes DAs; I consider this to be one of the many intersections in California, intersections between lawlessness and homelessness. I was at a homeless encampment in Venice and a lot of people are angry; homeowners are angry; families are angry children have to go past these people to and from school, and the homeless population is endangered and it’s also a health hazard. Nothing’s being done about it; that’s one of the many failures of this governor.”

“So it was a very angry, ugly scene; if I were a Democrat, obviously, this would be called systemic racism; they’d call it a hate crime,” he added.

Conservatives on Twitter were outraged over the hate crime committed against Elder, as well as the resulting media coverage of the incident.

“A white leftist in a gorilla outfit hurls an egg at the man trying to become the first black governor of California, @larryelder. This hate crime has met with no public condemnation from Democrats—more proof, if any were needed, that the Democrats are still the party of racism,” wrote author and filmmaker Dinesh D’Souza.

Others pointed out the manipulative — and downright evil — response from the mainstream media.

“Look at these two tweets from the LA Times. The 1st downplays the racist attack against Larry Elder by describing it as a “hostile reception.” The 2nd makes it seem like the LAPD is investigating Elder by using a photo as if he’s slapping a woman. This wasn’t an accident. At all,” wrote Fox News reporter Joseph Wulfsohn.
